Designing the perfect home can be exciting—but also overwhelming. With countless styles, color palettes, and furniture options, many shoppers struggle to visualize how pieces will come together in their space. Bed Bath & Beyond came to us to pitch a concept.

Enter BeyondSpaces, an AI-powered interior design app concept for Bed Bath & Beyond, designed to simplify and personalize the home styling experience and connect customers with the perfect products at the perfect time in their shopping process.

At the heart of BeyondSpaces is GPT-powered AI, which enhances the design process by understanding user preferences, analyzing uploaded room photos, and generating tailored recommendations. GPT’s natural language capabilities enable intuitive conversations with users, helping them refine their vision, explore different styles, and receive real-time suggestions on furniture, decor, and color schemes. Combined with image recognition and AR visualization, this AI-driven approach transforms the home design experience into something seamless, interactive, and deeply personalized.

This case study explores the design journey behind BeyondSpaces—how we identified user pain points, leveraged AI to generate tailored design recommendations, and created an intuitive experience that empowers users to bring their dream spaces to life effortlessly.

‍Process

Designing a project like BeyondSpaces involves a user-centered, iterative process that blends AI technology with intuitive design principles.

The journey begins with research and discovery, identifying key pain points in home styling through user interviews and market analysis. From there, we moved into concept development, where we defined the app’s core functionality—such as AI-powered style recommendations, AR visualization, and smart shopping integration.

Through wireframing and prototyping, we refined the user experience, working to ensure seamless interactions between AI-generated suggestions and user preferences. User testing helped us to validate the design, allowing for iterative improvements before launching a polished, engaging, and intelligent home design assistant.

"I love the idea of decorating my home, but I always struggle to visualize how different pieces will come together. Seeing everything in my space before buying gave me more confidence in my choices."
